SoCal Poly Support Group (SFV): “”ALL THINGS ‘METAMOURS’ (YOUR PARTNER’S PARTNER[S])

WHO WE ARE

The Poly lifestyle is a beautiful yet complex one. From poly play, to mono-poly, to poly families and more, every day fosters new challenges, lessons, and rewards.

Whether you’re curious about what it means to be poly or you’re currently in or out of a a platonic or non-platonic poly dynamic/relationship, we are here to offer support.

A safe space to discuss the peaks and the valleys. A safe space to open up without judgement. A safe space to be you. We’re that shoulder to lean on. 🙂

Each month, we’ll meet in person to discuss what’s on our minds. We start off with an open discussion before transitioning to our main topic.

We host three meetings (each with their own main topic) every month:
1st Wednesday of the month (Event Link) at Sanctuary LAX (6pm to 8pm)
2nd Wednesday of the month (Event Link) at Threshold (7pm to 9pm)
4th Wednesday of the month (Event Link) at Trystology (in partnership with the Ventura Kink Hub)

We look forward to meeting you online and IRL. 🙂

~Birdy and Jenn

SEPTEMBER’S MEETING TOPIC (SFV):

Our first hour will be devoted to what you’re dealing with this month. Any hot topics or things you need to get off your chest. We’ll go around the group and offer support and guidance through personal experiences. This part of the group will be led by Jenn, a licensed Marriage Family Therapist. For her services, a small donation is welcome, but not required.

Our second hour will be devoted to our monthly topic:

“ALL THINGS ‘METAMOURS’ (YOUR PARTNER’S PARTNER[S])”
At one of our first meetings, we learned to see our partner’s partners as additions not replacements. Embracing this perspective can be tricky, especially growing up in a monogamy-centric culture. It takes work. It takes communication, love, support, and most importantly, patience.

Whether you’re mono-poly, polysexual, polyplay, polyamorous, solo-poly… whatever your flavor of ethical non-monogamy, metamours (platonic and non-platonic) will always be a presence to adjust to.

So, let’s talk about it. Whether it be setting up boundaries and guidelines for meeting and bringing in more partners, developing effective and supportive relationships with our metamours, or even harnessing the added support and gifts of additional partners to strengthen your core relationship.
Come prepared to share your stories, your experiences, your tips, and any other thoughts on this very important topic.
